Miami University sophomore quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (Findlay, OH/Findlay) earned the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. For Roethlisberger, it was his first MAC Player of the Week distinction this season and the sixth of his career.
In the RedHawks' 44-14 victory over Big Ten member Northwestern last Saturday, Roethlisberger led Miami's offense piling up the most points ever for a MAC team versus a Big Ten opponent. Roethlisberger completed 75.6 percent (28-of-37) of his passes for 353 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions and left the game after the first series in the fourth quarter. He connected with 10 different receivers in the game. En route to his fine passing performance, Roethlisberger also set the school career records for passing touchdowns (50) and total offense (7,090).
The RedHawks travel to the Colorado State University this Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. MT for a match-up with one of the nation's other top passers Bradlee Van Pelt. The RedHawks then open up at home on Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. EDT for the 108th Battle for the Victory Bell versus the University of Cincinnati.
