OXFORD, Ohio - After dominating MAC rival Marshall, 45-6, last Wednesday night, the Miami RedHawks (9-1, 6-0 MAC) climbed five spots to No. 18 in the Associated Press poll and No. 19 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll. The No. 18 standing in the AP poll is Miami's highest ranking since it was No. 12 in the final poll of 1975.
The RedHawks' win last week extended their winning streak to nine games, the longest since 1977, and helped them clinch a share of the Mid-American Conference East Division title. Due to MAC tie-breaking procedures, Miami has already secured a spot in the MAC Championship game, which will be held at the site of the MAC West Division champion on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. The championship game will be televised on ESPN2.
Miami heads off to Athens this Saturday, Nov. 22 to take on Ohio University (2-8, 1-5 MAC) for the 80th time since the series started in 1908. The RedHawks own a 49-29-2 edge in the series. Miami closes out the season six days later on Nov. 28, taking on UCF (3-7, 2-4 MAC) in Orlando.
