OXFORD, Ohio - A 33-10 win last week over No. 17 Bowling Green State University and Miami's first appearance in the national polls since 1976, has the RedHawks ascending up the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) standings to No. 16, their highest mark of the year.
For the second week in a row, the RedHawks will put their BCS ranking on the line on national TV as ESPN2 will carry this Wednesday night's game versus Marshall University at 7:30 p.m. With a Miami win, the RedHawks would wrap up their first East Division title since the Mid-American Conference (MAC) split into two divisions in 1997 and put Miami in position to claim its first MAC title since 1986. A limited number of tickets are still available for the game by calling 1-866-MU-HAWKS.
The BCS Ranking is done by using a formula that takes into account a team's average ranking in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches Polls along with a computer ranking average from several polls around the country. Combined with strength of schedule analysis, losses and a quality win component, the BCS poll can be tabulated.
