OXFORD, Ohio - For the second time in four weeks and the seventh time in his career, Miami University junior quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (Findlay, OH/Findlay) earned the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference office announced today.
In the RedHawks' 45-20 win over the University of Akron last Saturday, Roethlisberger was stellar, throwing for a pair of scores and running for two more. He completed 31-of-47 pass attempts for 369 yards and no interceptions as the RedHawks tied the school record for most consecutive games scoring over 40 points with four. With the score 24-20, Roethlisberger engineered a 12-play, 98-yard drive that sealed the victory and he capped it off with a six-yard scoring run. From there, Miami added two more touchdowns. The win moved the RedHawks into first in the MAC East Division.
The RedHawks host Buffalo this Saturday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. EDT for another important MAC East Division contest at Yager Stadium. The game closes out the RedHawks' three-game home stand and will be the featured event at Parents' Weekend 2003.
