AKRON, Ohio - Bolstered by a career weekend from junior Eric Phipps (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), Miami University's golf team posted its best finish of the season at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate at Firestone Golf Course, placing fourth in the 18-team field. Phipps claimed individual medalist honors for the first time in his career and shot a career-best and tournament-low 65 in the second round of the event. Senior Mike Sabo (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) led the tournament after shooting a season-best 69 in the first round, but shot consecutive rounds of 75 to land in a tie for 15th place. For the second consecutive week, sophomore Mark Weghorst (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) placed among the top 25, producing his best finish of the season this weekend.
