Goble was a four-time MAC Champion for Miami men's swimming and diving from 1965-68. A three-time letterwinner, Goble captured the 500 freestyle title in 1966 and the 1650 freestyle crown in 1967. He was a part of the MAC Champion 800 freestyle relay in 1966 and 1968, anchoring the relay in 1966. Goble was a significant contributor to the team's scoring at the MAC Championships, placing among the top four in four events each of his three varsity seasons. Following his freshman season, Goble was tabbed the team's Mulliken Award winner as the most outstanding freshman swimmer and leader as voted by his peers.
Noted by teammates and coaches for his incredible leadership, Goble helped propel Miami to back-to-back MAC Championships in 1967 and 1968, serving as team co-captain as a senior in 1968. It was the second and third MAC titles for the Red and White and the only time in program history Miami seized consecutive conference titles. His passion for Miami University and the men's swimming and diving program has endured since his time with the Red and White through a variety of initiatives over the years.
