Hall of Fame
As a two-sport star at Miami from 1961-63, Tyler earned school, conference and national accolades for his athletic accomplishments. He earned three letters in football form 1961-63, helping Miami compile a 19-9-3 record in his three seasons. He collected first-team all-MAC honors in 1962, rushing for 538 yards and six touchdowns at halfback while also leading the defense with five interceptions. At the conclusion of the campaign, he was named MVP of the Tangerine Bowl versus Houston.
In track, Tyler held Miami all-time records in the 100-yard dash, 110-yards high hurdles and 220-yard dash. He also became the first man in MAC history to qualify for seven events in a single-day meet.
Tyler played for four Canadian Football teams and three NFL squads, winning both Grey Cup and Super Bowl Championships.
