Robin Chico earned four letters in swimming from 1975-78 and helped Miami compile a dual-meet record of 23-3 under coaches Claudia Griggs and Grey Wilson. For four years, she was a national qualifier in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events and the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay events. She finished 17th in the nationals in the 200-yard butterfly in 1978. She won Ohio Collegiate championships in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard butterfly events; the 200- and 400-yard individual medley; the 200- and 1,650-yard freestyle events, and was a member of four championship relay teams.

Prior to coming to Miami, she ranked among the top 25 butterfly swimmers in the world. She finished 19th in the 100- and 21st in the 200-meter butterfly events in the Olympic Trials in 1972. Chico will be only the third woman inducted into the Hall of Fame. Preceding her into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame were former tennis coach Leann Davidge, who was inducted in 1986, and basketball standout Mary Ann Myers, 1989. Chico lives in Washington, D.C., and is the senior clinical dietician at the National Children's Medical Center.
