Hall of Fame
Shrider served 32 years at Miami University - nine as head basketball coach from 1957-66 and 25 as Athletic Director from 1964-88. Through his leadership, Miami and the Mid-American Conference remain in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He served on the NCAA Council form 1981-85 and the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee from 1981-87. He helped in the planning of Millett Hall and the Athletic Complex that includes Yager Stadium.
Under his guidance, Miami's intercollegiate athletic program expanded to 11 sports for men and eight for women. He helped lead the Redskins to 16 Reese Cups, including 14 in the last 16 years, and one Jacoby Cup - symbols of athletic excellence in the MAC. His basketball teams compiled a record of 126 victories and 96 defeats. He helped guide his teams to four MAC championships and a league record of 76-34, which included a winning mark over every other team.
He founded Miami's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1969 and is now a member of the 21st class to be inducted. He is also a member of Ohio University's Athletic Hall of Fame and the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame.
