Tish Bucher is regarded as one of the greatest female athletes to ever compete for Miami. At last year's Mid-American Conference Women's 10th Anniversary Awards, she was recognized as Miami's Athlete of the Decade. Bucher, who was the MU Athlete of the Year in 1984, was named the MAC Most Outstanding Swimmer four consecutive years (1981-84).
Bucher holds the MAC record with five individual titles in one meet (1982). She also captured 17 individual championships, 21 including relays and 24 titles in both MAC and OAISW meets. She qualified for either the NCAA or AIAW Championships three times.
