Mel Brodt

Mel Brodt, a four-year letterman in track at Miami, served as the head cross country and track and field coach at Bowling Green State University from 1960 to 1984. During his tenure at Bowling Green, he developed 53 NCAA Division I all-Americans, five collegiate record holders, three American record holders and one Olympic champion.
He compiled dual meet records of 89-44-2 in track and 146-55 in cross country. In 1972, he was named NCAA Indoor Track Coach of the Year as well as NCAA District IV Coach of the Year in track and cross country. He is a member of the Ohio Association of Track Coaches Hall of Fame, the Ohio Track and Field Hall of Fame and the Bowling Green State University Hall of Fame.
