Leann Grimes Davidge, who coached the tennis team to four consecutive championships, was the first woman inducted into Miami University's Athletic Hall of Fame. A nationally ranked tennis player, Davidge grew up in Middletown, Ohio, and captured four Big 10 titles before graduation from Ohio State University in 1978.
She served as coach of the women's tennis team at Miami from 1979-85 and guided Miami to a five-year record of 92-50, including a 25-1 mark in the Mid-American Conference. The MAC honored her as "Coach of the Year" in both 1981 and 1983.
Leann lost her life in an auto accident while on a recruiting trip.
