Hall of Fame
A three-time MAC Champion, Janis won the 137-pound weight class in 1962, 1963 and 1964, every year he was eligible to compete as freshmen at the time were not allowed to compete at the varsity level. He became Miami's first three-time MAC Champion in wrestling, a feat duplicated by only five other wrestlers to wear the Red and White. He also was the first wrestler in program history to win matches at the national meet.
Janis spearheaded Miami to a 10-1 regular-season mark during his senior campaign, leading Miami to a MAC Championship in 1964. It was the second MAC title for Miami and the second of five captured by Miami Wrestling in the 1960s. He was a three-year letterwinner from 1962-64.
