Harper had an impressive career for the women's swimming and diving program from 1995-99 that culminated with MAC Diver of the Year and MAC Outstanding Senior awards in 1999. Harper became the first in program history to sweep the 1- and 3-meter events at the same MAC Championship with her wins in both events in 1999. The previous year she finished runner-up in both events at the MAC Championships. She was tabbed Miami's Female Athlete of the Year in 1999 as well, becoming just the second in program history to earn the honor.

A decorated high school gymnast, Harper pursued diving in college as a walk-on to the Miami program and went on to earn a scholarship. She quickly made an impact at Miami, earning a spot to compete at the MAC Championships as a freshman and scoring points for the Red and White en route to a team conference title. Harper helped Miami to MAC Championships each of her four years. A two-time Academic All-MAC honoree, she captured CoSIDA Academic All District honors in 1999.
