Bohan was a two-time All-American for the Miami men's swimming and diving program, earning the distinction in 1957 and 1958. At the 1957 NCAA Championships, Bohan placed third in the 100-yard backstroke and sixth in the 200-yard backstroke. He was a five-time Mid-American Conference champion for Miami. He earned three MAC titles in 1957 and two more in 1958. Bohan won titles in the 100-yard backstroke and in the 200-yard individual medley in 1957 and '58 and also was the MAC Champion in the 200-yard backstroke in 1957.
