A 12-time Mid-American Conference Champion, Jennifer (Shea) Vallo was a vital component of a dominant era in Miami women's swimming history. A freestyle specialist for the Red and White from 1984-87, Shea was a member of four Mid-American Conference Championship teams during a seven-year run of MAC women's swimming and diving crowns for Miami, which is tied as the longest title run by a MAC women's swimming and diving program in conference history.

As a freshman in 1984, Shea captured MAC individual titles in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles and was a part of the MAC Champion 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays. The following year, she repeated as the MAC Champion in the 200-yard freestyle and added MAC titles as part of the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. In 1986, she claimed the MAC title in the 100-yard freestyle and also swam on the MAC Champion 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays. Shea capped her career with a MAC title in the 400-yard freestyle relay as a senior.

During her Miami career, she set varsity records in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles. In addition to her accomplishments in the pool, Shea was named to the Academic All-MAC Team in 1987.
