Popson led Miami to its first MAC Tournament Championship in program history as a freshman in 2005, beginning an impressive four-year RedHawk career with a MAC All-Tournament selection. Popson was a two-time all-conference selection, being named to the first team as a junior in 2007 and the second team as a senior in 2008. She also won the Leann Davidge Memorial Award and was named Academic All-MAC as a senior.

Popson remains the career leader in batting average (.351), at-bats (697), runs (138) and hits (245). She is now fifth in career walks (81) after graduating as the career leader in walks. Popson is also third in career stolen bases (44). The former RedHawk infielder holds seven places in the program's single-season records. She has the two-most single-season at-bat totals (204 in 2007 and 198 in 2005) and was first in runs (45 in 2008) and hits (79 in 2007) when she concluded her Miami career, but now ranks second in both of those categories. Popson had the second-most walks (30 in 2008) in a single season in program history and now ranks sixth. She is tied for second in stolen bases (18 in 2008) and sixth in batting average (.387 in 2007).
