Vossler, an all-Ohio fullback and a champion in the shot put, was an outstanding athlete for Miami from 1927-30. A 205-pound fullback from Franklin, Ohio, he was a "triple-threat" football player as he could also pass and kick the ball. Selected all-Ohio two years, one of his best games came against Denison in 1929 when he rushed for more than 200 yards and scored three touchdowns.

In track, he captured three Buckeye Conference shot put titles, setting a record with his best career performance of 47 feet, six inches his senior year. He also qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Championships in 1929. In addition, he threw the discus and the javelin for the "Big Red." During his career, he was coached and played with such Miami Athletic Hall of Famers as George Rider, Chester Pittser, Paul Brown, Jim Gordon, Wilbur Cartwright, Vern Cheadle and Charles Shugert.
