Downey is one of just 18 players in women's basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points and ranks 12th on the all-time list, amassing 1,192 points during her Miami career. A four-year letterwinner for the Red and White (1986, 1988-90), Downey also is one of just seven players in program history to compile more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career. Downey was a second-team all-MAC selection in 1990 and was tabbed Miami's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year that same year. She also earned academic all-MAC honors in 1990.
Downey continues to rank among Miami statistical leaders in single-season blocked shots, tying for ninth with 30 in 1990. Additionally, she is currently ranked fifth in career blocked shots (87), eighth in career field goals (517) and sixth in career field goal attempts (1,209). In her final season with the Red and White, Downey helped spearhead Miami to a MAC regular-season title behind an impressive 15-1 league mark and a 23-5 overall record, which was just the fourth 20-win season in program history at the time.
