In 1959, Wingard was among five players to score in double figures for the season, which was the first time on record Miami had five players average double figures in scoring. That season, Wingard averaged a double-double of 12.1 ppg and 12.2 rpg. Wingard also helped the Red and White establish a single-season team record for rebounding as the 1957 squad amassed 1,464 rebounds over 25 games.
