Arthur Thatcher also a native of Portsmouth, earned three letters each is football from 1925-27 and in track from 1926-28. Nicknamed "Red", he played on three winning football teams for Coach Chester Pittser and was selected second team all-Buckeye at center. He helped Miami capture the Buckeye and Big 6 titles in 1926 and he was the top scorer with 38 points his senior year.
Thatcher served 35 years with the Williams Manufacturing Company prior to his retirement. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1976.
