ACMB CORE AREAS
Interns are encouraged to participate in as many areas of the internship that are of interest but are required to be part of at least one of the “core areas” of Communications, Marketing or Broadcast.

COMMUNICATIONS
Sport Contacts
Serving as the liaison to a team for Miami Athletics Communication and Marketing with guidance from a full-time staff member; Will be assisted by all ACMB Teams in respective areas (ex. music, videoboard support at games, photos/video shot, etc.); Teams Include: Soccer, Field Hockey, Cross Country/Track & Field, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Softball. This is a very hands-on experience and a tremendous way to have a great impact on the department and gain valuable experience working directly with a Division I athletic program.

COMMUNICATIONS
Sport Contacts

- Covering home events in person and away events remotely
- Writing recaps/releases using AP Style and assisting with feature ideas for your sport
- Assisting with in-game statistics when needed
- Posting stories, results and statistics to the website along with roster/bio maintenance when necessary
- Working with opponent communication contacts to trade rosters and statistic files, etc.
- Nominating players for weekly or postseason awards with the conference office
- Updating record books and bios
- Fielding and assisting with media requests
- Some social media updating for team accounts
Communications Team
- Writers who are interested in writing recaps/previews/releases/features, etc., using AP Style
- Assisting with in-game statistics
- Basic website assistance
- Learning the back end of our MiamiRedHawks.com CMS to be able to post content, etc.
- Putting together roster cards and other information gameday materials for media and fans
- Assisting with player bios and record books
- Assisting in press boxes/press row to assist with media needs
- Assisting with photo IDing/archiving/web posting
Statistics Team
- Assisting with in-game statistics for football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, tennis, baseball/softball
- Learn statistics software programs for specific sports
- Help spot/call in-game action with an understanding of the rules/statistics for the sport being played
BROADCAST
Multi-Media Team
Developing a schedule to shoot events to make sure we have ample photos/video for all sports.
Photographers
- Pulling a few of your best shots early in a game to pass along to Sport Contact or Social Media Team for score graphic and/or use on website; occasionally passing a few along for opponent school use
- Pulling 8-10 photos postgame and loading into a photo gallery on the website and linking to event
- Within 5 days of shooting, going through files to grab usable photos; ID them with player name, etc.; load onto server or sharable Google folder
- Shoot footage at games to make sure we have for use in highlights, B-Roll, etc.
- Help catalog video
- Help create videos/highlight packages under the direction of the Coordinator of Media Productions
- Work with Will Corey/Steve Baker to execute ESPN3/NCHC.tv broadcasts or in-venue videoboard footage
- Assisting to run cable and set up
- Running cameras
- Assist in production truck
MARKETING
Gameday Production Team
- Script writing for public address announcers for all sports
- Help develop/organize playlists with music that works for a particular sport/game situations
- Executing music at home sporting events
- Running videoboards at events (where applicable) at home events
- Assisting with video board presentation and loading boards with information/content
Engagement/Promotions/Presentation Team
- Develop and execute plans to promote ticketed events, especially to students on campus
- Devises promotions that will enhance attendance
- Execute/Create engaging in-game promotions
- Assist with giveaway ideas and execution
- Execute/cue fan tunnels as team enters field/court/ice
- Help execute recognitions/performances
- Set up, execute and tear down of events such as Fan Fest/Tailgating/Autograph Sessions, etc.
- Engage fans of all ages during events at tailgating, FanFest and through distributions
- Help drive Code Red membership and develop initiatives to provide value to the CR membership
Social Media Team
- Being involved in the planning, execution and analytics of the social media accounts for the athletic department and assisting in some aspects with sport-specific accounts
- Assisting in a social media plan for the main athletics accounts and Code Red accounts
- Crafting text for posts and formulating ideas for graphics and engaging visuals
- In-game tweeting: pre-game/postgame and periodic in-game updates for home and away events for select sports. Making sure department hashtags are used and tagging accounts as appropriate
- Working with Graphic Design Team to make sure gameday graphics are ready with accurate information as well as score graphics with correct logos, etc.
- Following analytics of the accounts/posts to better craft messaging moving forward
Graphic Design Team
- Heavy emphasis in Photoshop; knowledge of other creative suite platforms a plus
- Help produce creative content for videoboards, social media, etc., that meet Miami Athletics/Miami University brand standards and guidelines
- Create Gameday Graphics sized for IG and TW for all sports for home and away events
- Create Score Graphics that include team logos and any required sponsor logos that can be updated quickly postgame
- Assist in creating graphics for videoboards; assist in creating graphics or templates for award recognition for social media/website
- Work with Social Media Team on content for various Miami Athletics social media platforms
- Work with Multi-Media Team for photos for various graphics
