Tom Hassfurther Biography

Tom Hassfurther is currently the Executive Vice President of Packaging Corporation of America, the fourth largest producer of containerboard and corrugated products in the United States. PCA manufactures kraft linerboard and corrugating medium at six containerboard mills and produces a wide variety of corrugated containers and displays at 100 manufacturing and related operations. PCA employs over 13,000 people and has annual revenues of approximately $6 billion. Prior to his current position, Hassfurther served as Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Corrugated Products. He also held several senior-level management and sales positions at PCA and Tenneco Packaging.
Hassfurther served as chairman of the Fibre Box Association (FBA) for two consecutive terms from 2008 – 2010. The FBA is a non-profit trade association that represents North American corrugated packaging manufacturers and strives to grow, protect and enhance the overall well-being of the industry by providing member-valued programs and services.
Hassfurther began his career with PCA in 1977 shortly after graduating from Miami University with a bachelor of science degree in business. He is a lifelong supporter of both the Farmer School of Business, as well as athletics at Miami University.
Hassfurther and his wife, Jan Rosenhahn Hassfurther (MU ’77) have two sons and a daughter.
