Paul Harker is currently in his fifth season as Miami's Director of Strength and Conditioning. As Director, Harker serves as the head strength coach for the football program, as well as administrator of the entire strength and conditioning department, overseeing the training programs of 19 varsity sports.
Harker joined Miami from Wayne State University in Detroit, where he served as the Warriors' Head Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2006 until 2011. He was awarded the title of Assistant Athletic Director in 2010. Prior to beginning his career at Wayne State, Harker fulfilled a two-year graduate assistantship at Michigan State University, earning his Master's Degree in kinesiology in 2006.
Harker received his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State, where he was a six-year member of the football team. A three-year letter winner for the Spartans, Harker served as team captain for the 2002-2003 season, starting all 13 games. He was voted to the All-Big Ten Team (Honorable Mention) by both the coaches and the media and also earned Academic All Big Ten and CoSIDA Academic All-District (First Team) honors as a senior. Harker received Michigan State's Biggie Munn Award for most inspirational player as well as the Iron Man Award for his work in the weight room.
Harker is CSCS certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and SCCC certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Harker resides in Oxford with his wife, Erin, their son, Milo, and dogs Lucy and Melody.
