In light of decisions from around the rest of the sporting world, the Mid-American Conference and Miami University have officially decided to postpone the rest of its sporting events through Saturday, athletic director Joel Maturi announced this afternoon.
"Out of respect for the responses of the other NCAA institutions and other sporting governances, the Mid-American Conference and Miami University have respectively decided to postpone our athletic contests for the rest of the week and will make every effort possible to reschedule the events," says Maturi.
Subsequently, Miami's football game at Kent State University on Saturday, September 15, at 6 p.m. and home women's soccer game vs. Toledo at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 14, have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. No make up times have yet been determined. Miami's volleyball matches, which were scheduled yesterday to take place at the University of Kentucky this weekend, also have been canceled.
"There are no correct decisions to a matter like this," said head football coach Terry Hoeppner. "As things have unfolded this week, it became apparent this was the appropriate thing to do."
