Miami Director of Athletics David Sayler has named D'Angelo Solomon Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation. Solomon's role will include oversite of ticket sales and operations, marketing, game operations, communications and broadcasting. He will also serve as the liaison to IMG and will be a sport administrator.
"I am extremely pleased to be back on campus," said Solomon. "It was a matter of years ago that the Culture of Champions paved the way for Graduating Champions. Coupled with the advancement of our facilities, I see many more championships and great experiences in the future for our student-athletes. I look forward to being a value-add to the senior staff and I appreciate the opportunity to advance the external areas of the athletic department moving forward."
Solomon joins Miami after spending eight years with PNC Bank, serving as an assistant vice president and business banking relationship manager with a focus on acquisition and retention. There he established marketing and sales campaigns and facilitated group presentations to affinity marketing organizations. He has been honored by PNC with both their Achievement Award as well as their Ambassador Award and was a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at PNC.
Solomon has 15 years of corporate experience, with additional stops at Liberty Mutual, Washington Mutual and Wachovia Bank.
"We are thrilled to add D'Angelo to our senior leadership team," said Sayler. "His corporate understanding and his blend of sales, service and marketing on both the corporate side and in higher education are unique and ideal for the direction of our department. We are anxious to get D'Angelo on board to help support our mission of Graduating Champions. We know his talent and experiences in business, at Miami, in Oxford and greater Cincinnati, along with having been a Division I student-athlete, will significantly help advance our team."
Prior to his corporate stops, Solomon directed all sales and service at Miami Athletics from 2006-10. At that time, he helped create, implement and execute marketing and sales plans for ticketed sports. He also assisted in executing game day production and in-game promotions. He was also responsible for a variety of initiatives and programs within sales, marketing and fan engagement, including systemic increases in paid attendance for Miami hockey, basketball and football. He served as President of the Association of Black Faculty and Staff while with the RedHawks.
Solomon, a 1998 graduate of Wake Forest, was a co-captain for the Demon Deacon football team, earning second-team and honorable mention All-ACC honors while there.
