OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's sports medicine department recently added two members to its staff. Joining the RedHawk staff as assistant athletic trainers are Jason Eckerle and Miami University alumna Becky Way.
Eckerle, a Jasper, Ind., native, earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training from Ball State University in May of 2002. He was in his first year as a graduate intern at the University of South Carolina this year, working with the football team and the men's and women's swimming and diving teams, before joining the RedHawk staff. Eckerle also attained an associate's degree in physical education/sports medicine from Vincennes University in 1999. Eckerle's main sport responsibility at Miami is baseball.
Way, a May 2002 graduate of Miami University, earned bachelor's degrees in athletic training and sport organization. The Okeana, Ohio, native, was in her first year as a graduate intern at Coastal Carolina University this year before joining the Miami staff and worked with the football, women's soccer and men's and women's track and field programs at Coastal Carolina. Way is the athletic trainer for the synchronized skating program, a squad she worked with during her undergraduate days at Miami.
