Suszek, Katskee Named Miami Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, Abby Suszek and Cooper Katskee are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of April 21.

Female Winner: Abby Suszek

Abby Suszek brought home first place in the 400-meter dash at the Wake Forest Invitational this weekend with a new personal-best time of 53.01 seconds. Suszek lowered her second-place mark in Miami history for the event by almost half a second. She also ran in the 200-meter dash, and she finished in third place with a time of 23.92 seconds. Finally, Suszek was a part of the 4x100-relay team that finished in second place with a time of 45.88 seconds, a time good enough to put them at fourth all-time in program history. Suszek, a senior from Mentor, Ohio, is a Psychology/Strategic Communication major in the College of Arts and Science.

Male Winner: Cooper Katskee
Cooper Katskee took the mound in the first inning for the RedHawks on Thursday and never left, pitching a complete game with 115 pitches. In nine full innings of work, he held the Chippewas to just one run and five hits while striking out five batters. He walked just one batter and was credited for the RedHawks' 4-1 win as Miami went on to capture its seventh consecutive MAC series. Katskee, a redshirt sophomore from Greenwood Village, Colo., is a Psychology major in the College of Arts and Science.
