Watson Named MVC Freshman of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) announced its Men's Swimming and Diving weekly awards today. Miami's Drew Watson was announced the MVC Freshman of the Week.
Watson posted an impressive performance last weekend at the Miami Classic, earning two personal best times, which included a first-place and sixth-place finish, as well as a first-place relay finish. Watson started his weekend with the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing first place posting an individual time of 21.20. Up next was the 100-yard breaststroke where Watson finished first recording a personal best time of 55.74. Watson finished his weekend with the 50-yard freestyle where he was sixth place with a personal best time of 21.17.
Watson, a freshman from Crystal Lake Illinois, is a real estate major. In high school, Watson was a three-time State Medalist and three-time NISCA All-American. Watson and the rest of the men's team will return to the pool Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic center to host the MVC Conference Championships.
