McWood, Nicholson Capture Weekly MAC Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ryan McWood and Graham Nicholson, two members of the Miami University football team, earned Mid-American Conference awards on Monday. McWood was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week, while Nicholson was named MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week.

McWood, a seventh-year senior, had a team-high 11 tackles and added 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in Miami's 27-24 win over Kent State. McWood was part of a defensive unit that limited the Golden Flashes to 109 yards rushing, 110 below their season average.

Nicholson was perfect on the day, connecting on 2-of-2 field goals and 3-of-3 on extra points in Miami's 27-24 win over the Flashes. The sophomore knocked in a season-long 49-yard field goal and added a 45-yarder as well in the victory. He added two touchbacks on six kickoffs as well.

Miami returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, for a noon kick at Bowling Green.
