McWood Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Team

Miami University senior linebacker Ryan McWood (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Brother Rice) was named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Team, earning first-team distinction. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

McWood has played in 28 career games, starting the last 16, including playing and starting in the RedHawks' three games in 2020. He amassed 34 tackles, including 3.0 tackle for loss and an interception last season. McWood was named MAC East Division Player of the Week with 14 tackles and the game-winning interception against Ball State.

Over his career, McWood has amassed 74 solo tackles, 74 assist tackles, 2.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss. He propelled Miami to a MAC Championship and LendingTree Bowl berth in 2019, leading the team with 99 tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
Wood majors in kinesiology and owns a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average.
