
RedHawks to Face Louisiana in LendingTree Bowl

The Miami University football team has announced that it has accepted an invitation to play in the LendingTree Bowl versus Louisiana on Monday, January, 6. Opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be carried live on ESPN.

The LendingTree Bowl is Miami's 12th bowl appearance in school history, most recently competing in the 2016 St. Petersburg Bowl. Overall, the RedHawks are 7-4 in bowl games.

The RedHawks have won six of their last seven games and are coming off a 26-21 win over Central Michigan in the 2019 MAC Championship Game. In Miami's last 30 conference games, the RedHawks are a league-best 22-8.
Offensively, Miami is led by MAC Freshman of the Year, Brett Gabbert, who has thrown for 2,163 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Gabbert is one of four true freshmen seeing significant playing time for the RedHawks on the offensive side of the ball. Gabbert's top target, Jack Sorenson, was named the MAC Championship Offensive Player of the Game after recording eight catches for 123 yards and a touchdown.

In MAC games only, the RedHawks boast one of the top defenses in the league in scoring (22.5, 2nd), total yards (352.9, 3rd), rush defense (177.0, 5th) and pass defense (175.9, 1st). Miami also ranks second in the MAC with 27 sacks. Four different RedHawk defenders earned All-MAC accolades, led by senior defensive tackle Doug Costin. The West Chester, Pa., native has 56 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks on the season.

Miami arguably has one of the best special teams units in the nation. Sam Sloman ranks second in the country with 25 made field goals and has 50 touchbacks this season. Kramer ranks 35th in the nation with a 43.2 punting average. He has also downed 29 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line, with just six touchbacks. Maurice Thomas can also be found among the national leaders in kick (22.9, 30th) and punt return (12.6, 6th) averages.
The Ragin' Cajuns are 10-3 on the season and are coming off a 45-38 loss to Appalachian State in their conference championship game. Offensively, they average 38.7 points per game and are led by quarterback Levi Lewis, who has thrown for 2,804 yards and 24 touchdowns this season.
