Jan. 11, 2017 Miami University was devastated to learn Tuesday morning of the death of student-athlete Erin Rodriguez, a member of the tennis team. Rodriguez passed away of natural causes.
Yana Carollo, Head Tennis Coach
"As I look back at the years I have known Erin, I can definitely say I knew a real fighter. She was kind and compassionate and always worked hard in everything she did. Erin was the sunshine of our team. She was funny, intelligent, compassionate and a very kind girl. She reminded us about the beauty of life, with good laughs and compassion for each other. She was full of life and was never afraid to speak her mind on anything. Erin Rodriguez will stay in my heart forever. I only regret that I did not have enough time to tell her how much she meant to me and how grateful I was to have known her as a person. We love you Erin and you will remain in our hearts forever."
Ricardo Rosas, Assistant Tennis Coach
"I have no words to express my thoughts and feelings towards the Rodriguez family. My love, thoughts, support and prayers are with them for the rest of my life. We lost a very special young lady, a student, an athlete, but more than anything else, a fantastic person. This program will never be the same again. We lost an amazing team member with an incredible heart. Erin, she was unique, special and a very bright individual. She was funny, a fighter and a friend to many. Erin was and will always be Miami Tennis. Our hearts come together as one. Today we are not "M" Strong, we are "Erin Strong" forever. We will miss her and are heartbroken, but we will stand as one."
