Miami Golf Team Finishes 11th at FirstEnergy Collegiate

RAVENNA, Ohio ? Miami University?s golf team was unable to improve upon its standing after the first day of the FirstEnergy Collegiate hosted by Kent State University and remained in 11th place after the final round. The RedHawks tallied 303 strokes over Friday?s opening round and 297 in Saturday?s final round. Friday?s second round was cancelled due to casual water on the course.
Lee Curry (Nepean, Ontario/South Carleton) led the Red and White, finishing in a 12th-place tie. He shot a 72 in the final round to finish at one-over par. Adam Speirs (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Oak Park) also shot a 72 in the final round to improve to a tie for 29th. Mike Sabo (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) also finished in a 29th-place tie. Eric Phipps (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) and Blake Johnson (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) shot identical round on both days to finish in a tie for 79th place.
This was Miami?s final tournament before the Mid-American Conference Championship May 3-5 at Medallion Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio.
