Persson Named to Richter Award Watch List

Miami goaltender Ludvig Persson was named to the Richter Award Watch List, the Hockey Commissioners Association announced today. Persson, a junior from Hindas, Sweden, is one of 41 goaltenders under consideration for this year's award, which recognizes the top goalie in men's NCAA Division I hockey.

Persson has made 19 starts for Miami this season, posting a 7-10-2 record with a .901 save percentage and 3.21 goals allowed average. He owns two shutouts this year and five in his career. Persson has been named NCHC Goaltender of the Week twice during the 2022-23 campaign and made his 2,000th career save last month.

The HCA's committee of voters – made up of a cross section of coaches, administration, scouts, and media – will pare this list down to approximately 15 names within the next three weeks with the winner announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.

Persson and the RedHawks resumes NCHC play this weekend at No. 4/3 Denver. Puck drop on Friday, January 13 is set for 9 p.m. ET at Magness Arena.
